Frequently asked questions (fAQ)

Does Mind Stretch Psychology accept insurance?

Mind Stretch Psychology does not bill insurance directly. Depending on your plan, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement through out-of-network benefits. We can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company. Reimbursement is determined by your individual plan. HSA and FSA payments are also accepted.

What happens during the first therapy session?

The first session is an opportunity to discuss what brings you to therapy, what has been feeling difficult, and what you would like to change. Your psychologist will ask about your current concerns, relevant history, strengths, relationships, and goals. Together, you will begin developing a treatment plan that reflects your needs and priorities.

How often should I attend therapy?

Many clients begin with weekly sessions so there is enough consistency to build momentum and work toward their goals. As progress develops, sessions may shift to every other week or become less frequent. The schedule is determined collaboratively based on your needs, progress, availability, and treatment goals.

How long does psychotherapy take?

The length of therapy varies from person to person. Some clients seek focused support for a specific concern, while others benefit from longer-term work involving trauma, relationships, identity, or patterns that have developed over time. You and your psychologist will regularly discuss your progress and whether the current treatment plan continues to meet your needs.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies from person to person. Some clients come for a focused period of 8–12 sessions, while others prefer ongoing support. After your consultation and initial sessions, we’ll discuss a plan that matches your therapeutic goals.
